Gestobes: (@gestobes): REGULATION OF METABOLISM IN PREGNANCY AND OBESITY.
The research team led by Dr. M ª del Pilar Ramos was establish as a research group in the Faculty of Pharmacy of the San Pablo-CEU University in 1997. The team, composed of PhD researchers (lecturers of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) and three pre-doctoral researchers, has extensive experience in the study of metabolic adaptations, and their regulation by insulin, in different physiological, like the gestation, or pathological situations like obesity or gestational diabetes.

Dr. MP Ramos, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, has been working for more than 30 years in the field of insulin signalling and oxidative/nitroxative stress and has received competitive funding from national (PM99/011, BFI2003-03455, SAF2007-64881, SAF2010-19603, SAF2014-56671-R, RTI2018-095615-B-I00; consortiums-S2010/BMD-2423 -MOIR1- B2017/BMD3684) and private institutions (FUSP-CEU, Research Chair-Merck of Biotechnology), which are reflected in more than 60 manuscripts. She has been a board member of the Diabetic Pregnancy Study Group (DPSG) of the "European for Association the Study of Diabetes (EASD)" of which she was president during 2017 and 2018, and she has coordinated of the group of Perinatal Biochemistry of the SEBBM (2010-2014.) In addition, the IP has participated in numerous international research projects, including European calls (BMH1-CT94-1584, FAIR-CT-98-4141 QLRT-2001-00138), focused on the study of the adaptations that take place during pregnancy, the molecular mechanisms of these adaptations and their involvement in foetal development. To carry out these projects, the research group has established a large number of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology methods that are applied in cellular models, animals (genetically modified mice, rat) and in humans, for which it currently has the collaboration with Dr. José Luis Bartha, from the Hospital de la Paz.

Dra. Ramos has directed 7 doctoral thesis and has supervised numerous master thesis. Her work as researcher is complemented by her tasks as a teacher and manager at the CEU-San Pablo University, where she is responsible for the Area of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and director of the Degree in Biotechnology and the Master's Degree in Business Management of Biotechnological Health (in collaboration with ASEBIO, Spanish Association of Bioenterprises). Dr. Ramos is invited to national and international conferences as a speaker and moderator and currently maintains international collaborations with Dr. A. Majali and G. Desoye (Univ. Graz, Austria), Dr. D. Hill (Lawson Health Research Institute, London, Ontario, Canada), Dr. M. Loeken (Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard Medical School, USA), Dr. E. Scoot (Univ. Leeds, UK), and national collaborations with groups belonging to MOIR2: Dr. G. Medina (URJC, Madrid), Dr. M. Ricote (CNIC, Madrid), and Dr. AM Valverde (CSIC, Madrid). As a result of her career, Dr. Ramos has received several awards, including in 2014 the "11th Joseph Hoet Research Award" of the "Diabetic Pregnancy Study Group (DPSG)" of the EASD ". The prize, sponsored by Novo-Nordisk, is awarded for a research trajectory of excellence in the field of Diabetes and Gestation.
